چکیده

We study theoretically and numerically the steady state diffusion controlled reaction A + B → ∅, where currents J of A and B particles are applied at opposite boundaries. For a reaction rate λ, and equal diffusion constants D, we find that when λJ −1/2 D −1/2 ≪ 1 the reaction front is well described by mean field theory. However, for λJ −1/2 D −1/2 ≫ 1, the front acquires a Gaussian profile-a result of noise induced wandering of the reaction front center. We make a theoretical prediction for this profile which is in good agreement with simulation. Finally, we investigate the intrinsic (non-wandering) front width and find results consistent with scaling and field theoretic predictions.

بررسی سینتیکی و تعیین مکانیزم واکنش پودر هیدراید تیتانیم با مذاب آلومینیم خالص

In this research, the reaction kinetics of TiH2 powder in contact with pure aluminum melt at various temperatures on the basis of measuring the released hydrogen gas pressure was studied. To determine the mechanism the reaction, after Solidification of samples, interface of TiH2 powder in contact with melt was studied. The results showed that PH2-time curves had three regions. In the first and...

A numerical investigation of a reaction-diffusion equation arises from an ecological phenomenon

This paper deals with the numerical solution of a class of reaction diffusion equations arises from ecological phenomena. When two species are introduced into unoccupied habitat, they can spread across the environment as two travelling waves with the wave of the faster reproducer moving ahead of the slower. The mathematical modelling of invasions of species in more complex settings that include ...

Asymptotics of Reaction-Diffusion Fronts with One Static and One Diffusing Reactant

The long-time behavior of a reaction-diffusion front between one static (e.g. porous solid) reactant A and one initially separated diffusing reactant B is analyzed for the mean-field reaction-rate density R(ρA, ρB) = kρ m A ρ n B. A uniformly valid asymptotic approximation is constructed from matched self-similar solutions in a “reaction front” (of width w ∼ tα where R ∼ tβ enters the dominant ...

Front propagation and pattern formation in anisotropic bistable media

The effects of diffusion anisotropy on pattern formation in bistable media are studied using a FitzHugh-Nagumo reaction-diffusion model. A relation between the normal velocity of a front and its curvature is derived and used to identify distinct spatiotemporal patterns induced by the diffusion anisotropy. In a wide parameter range anisotropy is found to have an ordering effect: initial patterns...

Diffusion-limited rates on low-dimensional manifolds with extreme aspect ratios

We consider a single-species diffusion-limited annihilation reaction 2A → ∅ with reactants confined to a two-dimensional surface with one arbitrarily large dimension and the other comparable in size to interparticle distances. This situation could describe reactants which undergo both longitudinal and transverse diffusion on long filamentous molecules (such as microtubules), or molecules that u...
